It all began with an area filled with weeds(natures chosen cover crop), yarrow, clover, grass and other beneficial plants. Chopped and dropped (good ol fashion lawnmower) all the plants into smaller pieces. Then tilled the area (First and only time) to incorporate the organic matter for the soil food web, dig up big rocks and mix the recycled potting soil with native soil. Planted the garlic in the fall covered with woodchips with a small amount of quality clean animal manure. Harvested in July. No sprays or fertilizers were used, just good old fashion Deschutes river water.
